Today, I had the appointment with the TAFE (tech) counsellor where I did talk about that teacher (and a little bit about the others). She said that there have been a few complaints in that area about the teachers. The other students and I had…

Teachers that need better training

I am no longer at high school, but I am putting this discussion here because not only is there no category for further education, but I feel that it would be well suited to any form of education.  The other day at TAFE, after being told by the teacher that I wasn't paying attention again, I mentioned to her that I have Asperger's Syndrome.  She said that I mentioned that to her earlier on in the year and she had kept that in mind.  I then said to her that there are other students in the class…See More

The Vulcan reference is too painfully funny! I am opposed to divorce, but we are coming up on 32 years of together--about 10 of marriage, and the rest more as roommates. I have read that hyper-sensitive nerves are part of the whole AS, and my wife…

Wilbarger Method

Ok, so here's something new I learned not all that long ago. By the way, I think I could live with Jerry for the next 50 years and continue to learn new things about him and therapies that will help him.Anyway, it's called the Wilbarger Method, first introduced to me by my girlfriend Lucette who has an autistic little guy. She introduced this to me during the time when Jerry was off his Zoloft, reacting to being taken off his Risperadol, and just in plain old need of some sensory help. It was…See More

Full Onset

Wow, where to begin? I guess at the beginning, which right now, at 11:45 p.m. and after a very long 30 hours, seems like a month ago.Yesterday was a typical Tuesday for us. Jerry got up, watched Monster Jam, we did school, and then went to OT. We picked up a friend of Michaela’s then, went for Slurpees, and came home. Jerry was so excited after the Wipeout course Miss Erin made for him in therapy that day, that he convinced his brothers to build one in the house. It was awesome! And quite…See More

I have a personal interest

Thumbnail
This American Aspie has a personal interest with other Canadians. This doesn't necessarily go along with Asperger's World or the cause of autism awareness.I would like some feedback from other Canadians. I would like to hear what you think of the Canadian healthcare system, (like? / dislike? ).I am a folk musician/singer/songwriter, already wrote 4 songs in the autism awareness theme. As an activist for affordable healthcare in USA I have wrote many songs reflecting concerns over the healthcare…See More

Languange Learning

Have you ever tried to learn another language? I am currently trying

to learn German. I grew up speaking both English and Spanish. I

learned both languages at the same time but language learning can be

difficult for many people.

Asperger's Syndrome can be like language learning for those who struggle with it. Asperger's makes it difficult to read social situations. Those who struggle with this syndrome have to learn how to

navigate everyday social…
